The European Parliament has given its consent to the ratification of the EU-Kenya Economic Partnership Agreement and to the Advanced Framework Agreement and an Interim Trade Agreement with Chile. These agreements are seen as significant milestones in strengthening the EU's relationships with key partners in Africa and Latin America. BusinessEurope Director General Markus J. Beyrer highlighted the importance of these deals, stating, "These agreements mark an important step, consolidating the EU's ties with important partners in Africa and Latin America. They show real commitment from the EU to engage with partners around the world and build stronger and mutually beneficial relationships."

Amidst increasing global tensions, Beyrer emphasized that the EU remains a consistent and solid player offering a sustainable economic development model to interested partners. He noted that these agreements play a vital role in diversifying markets for exports and imports, mitigating risks, and building more resilient value chains. Beyrer pointed out the significance of these agreements in ensuring the availability of critical raw materials to support green and digital transformations and enhance European competitiveness.

Furthermore, Beyrer underscored the importance of these new trade deals in promoting modern, rules-based trade that upholds high sustainability standards. He stated, "In the face of increasing unilateral actions that challenge multilateral rules, these deals champion modern, rules-based trade that sets high sustainability standards."
