Binance, the world's leading cryptocurrency exchange, recently announced its receipt of a Merit Award in the banking and finance category at Hong Kong's Cyber Security Professional Awards. The award is a testament to Binance's successful collaboration with Hong Kong law enforcement agencies in combating cybercrime.
In a statement on its website, Binance revealed that the fourth edition of Hong Kong's esteemed cybersecurity awards ceremony took place on February 29. Notably, Binance was the sole company from the Web3 industry to be recognized by Hong Kong law enforcement during this event. A representative from the Hong Kong Police Force shared in a statement circulated by Binance, "We believe it is crucial to increase cooperation with stakeholders in the industry and strengthen the effectiveness of law enforcement to combat crime through resource sharing, intelligence exchange, and talent cultivation. We are grateful to Binance for its support in enhancing the ability of law enforcement officers to combat criminals. We will continue to communicate and cooperate with industry experts to ensure the continued security of cyberspace."
According to Binance, it has previously collaborated with Hong Kong law enforcement agencies to identify and disrupt illicit activities involving digital assets. Furthermore, Binance has been invited by these agencies to participate in various events such as the International Forum on Cyber Policing (ISCP), Virtual Asset Investigation Course, and Commercial Crime Advanced Course.
Carlos Mak from Binance’s Investigations team expressed his gratitude for this recognition in a statement included in the post. He said, "I am honored to have received this award on behalf of Binance, and it serves as an important recognition of our commitment and efforts to secure Web3 networks. Close collaboration with law enforcement authorities is an integral part of Binance’s efforts to eradicate criminals in the industry, and we are driven to work alongside Hong Kong law enforcement officers to strengthen cyber security. In future, Binance will continue our efforts to bolster global Web3 security and build a trustworthy Web3 ecosystem."
Launched in 2017, Binance has rapidly grown to become the largest crypto exchange globally, as per CoinMarketCap. As of August 2022, Binance had a daily trading volume of approximately $76 billion. The platform lists over 350 tokens and provides users with the ability to buy, sell, and store digital assets.
