Air Lease Corporation announces lease with Thai Airways International for three Boeing 787 planes

Thai Airways International is set to receive three Dreamliner aircraft from the 787-9 line in 2025.

The aircraft are provided by Air Lease Corporation (ALC), a Los Angeles-based company that leases new commercial aircraft to airlines worldwide. According to its website, ALC owns over 800 aircraft and serves more than 100 customers across 62 countries.

Air Lease Corporation's executive chairman, Steven F. Udvar-Házy, expressed his satisfaction with the deal, saying, "We are pleased to announce this transaction for three new Boeing 787-9 aircraft with new customer, Thai Airways International. ALC is honored to add these three Dreamliner aircraft to Thai Airways’ growing widebody fleet and we look forward to a long-term relationship with the airline."

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited was listed on The Securities Exchange of Thailand in 1991. It offers full-service carrier services for passengers, goods, parcels, and postal items on both domestic and international routes. In addition to its core operations, the company also provides warehousing service, ground handling, ground equipment services, in-flight catering, and aircraft maintenance divisions. As stated on their website, Thai Airways aims to be the first choice for passengers while enhancing its ability to serve e-commerce companies and maintain competitiveness in the market.

The CEO of Thai Airways International, Chai Eamsiri, commented on the partnership with ALC: "We are delighted to commence this new partnership with ALC, with the addition of three Boeing 787-9s to Thai Airways’ fleet. The incorporation of these aircraft underscores our dedication to fleet modernization and delivering exceptional comfort and efficiency to our passengers. Thai Airways International is thrilled to further strengthen our relationship with such an industry-leading partner."

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner can accommodate up to 296 passengers across two classes and is powered by a GEnx-18/Trent 1000 engine. According to Boeing, the aircraft measures 206 feet in length, has a wingspan of 197 feet, and stands 56 feet tall. The design of the aircraft line is aimed at ensuring passenger comfort upon arrival at their destination.
