Leading crypto exchange participates in Hong Kong Police Force's crime course

Binance, the world's leading cryptocurrency exchange, recently collaborated with the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) Commercial Crime Bureau's (CCB) for a Commercial Crime Advanced Course. This engagement was carried out from November 29 to December 1 at the Hong Kong Police Headquarters.

Over 40 HKPF personnel participated in this course along with representatives from various agencies like the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), according to Binance's blog post. They deliberated on evolving crime trends and contemporary investigative techniques, which included addressing threats pertaining to digital assets.

According to the company's post, members of Binance's investigations team delivered lectures on digital asset investigations as well as collaborations between centralized exchanges and law enforcement agencies. The Binance experts explained blockchain investigation techniques and discussed how their exchange plays a crucial role in assisting global law enforcement agencies to combat cybercrime.

Carlos Mak, who is part of Binance's investigations team stated, "At Binance, we understand the importance of partnerships between public and private sectors in conducting criminal investigations and crime prevention. Therefore, we not only offer training courses but also provide practical assistance. A representative from CCB concluded that technological advancements are rapidly changing business and financial landscapes leading to new types of emerging crimes. "It is crucial for law enforcement officers not only to understand the latest developments in this space but also acquire relevant up-to-date knowledge and skills to address such threats," they said. The representative further expressed satisfaction over having invited Binance representatives who shared invaluable knowledge about the virtual-asset industry that will help participants manage related cases effectively in future.

The blog post also revealed that Binance has conducted or participated in 120 training sessions and seminars with law enforcement agencies this year. Binance has previously collaborated with Hong Kong law enforcement agencies for various events, including the Hong Kong International Symposium on Cyber Policing and Virtual Asset Investigation Course held by the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau.
