Ferrari has announced that it will now accept cryptocurrency as a form of payment for its cars in the United States, following requests from its customers. The Italian luxury sports car manufacturer also plans to introduce this payment option to its European markets.
According to Ferrari's Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer, Enrico Galliera, the decision to accept cryptocurrency payments was made in response to customer demand and efforts from crypto companies to become more energy efficient. Galliera emphasized that this move will not interfere with Ferrari's goal of achieving carbon neutrality across its entire value chain by 2030.
Galliera believes that accepting cryptocurrency payments could help Ferrari attract new customers. After implementing this payment option in Europe, the company plans to expand it to other countries where cryptocurrencies are legal. He also stated that there will be no additional fees for customers and prices will remain the same.
To facilitate cryptocurrency transactions, Ferrari will be partnering with Bitpay, a major crypto payment processor, in the United States. Customers will be able to use bitcoin, ether, or the stablecoin USDC to make their payments.
Ferrari joins a growing list of major companies that accept cryptocurrency payments, either directly or through crypto gift cards. Some of these companies include Microsoft, Airbnb, Delta Airlines, Best Buy, Google Play, Nintendo, Uber, DoorDash, and Walmart.
