Payit has named Jon Telch vice president of its Canada operations. The appointment correlates with the financial platform’s greater expansion in the country.

“We are excited for Jon to join the team in a greater capacity; his guidance has been incredibly valuable as we established our Canadian headquarters and business entity,” John Thomson, PayIt founder and CEO, said in a recent Business Wire news release. “We are deeply committed to continued expansion in Canada, and to delivering value to its provincial and city governments, the residents they serve, and the broader economy.”

Telch will oversee a growing team of experts based at Payit’s Canadian headquarters who focus on developing partnerships with government leaders to assist them in the delivery of modern digital experiences to local customers, the release said. The slate of government leaders includes the City of Toronto, the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, and the Town of Stouffville.

Based in Missouri, PayIt has more than a decade's worth of public-sector consulting experience across various industries including environmental protection, technology, First Nations advocacy, and international development, among others; the release said. The company specializes in digital customer experience solutions with integrated payments for both provincial and local governments.

The expansion enhances PayIt’s existing operations in Canada. Since its establishment in 2020, the headquarters has added 10 new jobs in the Toronto metropolitan area in order to fulfill the growing demands of the regional technology market.

Telch’s appointment follows the establishment of Payit’s partnership with MyToronto Pay in 2022 and its acquisition of Sovereign Sportsman Solutions in May 2023.

“Through my work with PayIt, I’ve seen the tangible value our partnership brings to agencies and the customers they serve — and I know that our Canadian governments are prioritizing digitisation,” Telch said in the release. “I’m looking forward to building on the successes PayIt has achieved in Canada thus far, and I know that we have the right team, technology, and passion to cultivate more successful partnerships.”
