Navisite managing director on scholarship program: 'Navisite is committed to hiring, promoting and championing female technologists'

Navisite recently introduced its Next Steminist Scholarship program in India, according to a press release.

"Women in India are pursuing degrees in STEM, but there is room for improvement in supporting women from lower income backgrounds," managing director of Navisite India, Tejal Munagekar, said. "Navisite is committed to hiring, promoting and championing female technologists, and we are proud to launch Navisite's Next Steminist Scholarship India to provide financial support that can help deserving young women achieve their goals."

Under the terms of the offering, two female candidates will receive a scholarship based on their financial needs. The program is now receiving applications and will continue receiving submissions through Oct. 30. 

The scholarship requires applicants to be 22 years of age or younger, a citizen of India, who identifies as a female, is currently enrolled in an accredited college or university as an undergraduate student and is currently in need of financial aid. The launch comes after two successful decades of operations in the region. Navisite became attracted to India for the launch after noting its STEM education potential.

According to a recent Economic Times report, the country ranks as one of the countries with the highest sum of scientists and engineers, with Indian women making up 43% of STEM graduates.

According to a recent press release, the program, established just last year, has contributed $60,000 in scholarships “to encourage young women to go after their dreams in STEM.”
