TransPerfect, based in New York, is continuing its international expansion with a new contact center in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, a press release reported.

"Our commitment to Santo Domingo and the Dominican Republic comes as the result of a stringent selection process," Steven Cheeseman, TransPerfect's vice president of contact center operations, said. "Hiring has already started at a rapid pace, and we look forward to bringing new talent on board that will help us in our goal to provide the best possible Spanish- and English-language support for our clients and their customers."

The state-of-the-art equipment facility will support 300 sears and various employee amenities, including the on-site cafeteria, game room and a room specifically for mothers. The center will conveniently neighbor public transportation.

Considered the first hub for the company's Connect division, the establishment is the second of its kind established by TransPerfect this year. It specializes in bridging communication gaps through services that include over-the-phone interpretation, business process outsourcing (BPO) and remote customer support including email and chat translation. The system, available in 200 languages, is compatible for most users worldwide.

The launch will also allow the language and technology solutions provider to connect with local universities, guiding students through the process of making a career for themselves in the language industry.

"This new office is reflective of our expanding footprint in the Caribbean and throughout Latin America,” TransPerfect president and CEO Phil Shawe said. “We are excited for the future of our operations in the region."
