Ashok Charles, offshore sourcing director of Winnitex, recently said he attended Techtextil to learn about the latest innovations in sustainable raw materials.
Techtextil North America, the only trade show dedicated to technical textiles in North America, took place May 17-19 in Atlanta, according to a press release.
“Our goal is to obtain materials that are increasingly sustainable and biodegradable,” Charles said, according to the press release. “Techtextil is the place to learn about textile innovation.”
The Techtextil trade show draws in leaders from all aspects of the technical textile industry, including raw materials, production, conversion, further treatment and recycling. The event was hosted by Frankfurt-based Messe Frankfurt Group, the largest trade fair organizer in the world.
Charles has worked for Winnitex since 1995. He has more than 30 years of experience sourcing across the world, from Malaysia and Indonesia, to Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Australia, India, the United States and Central America. Charles is an India native and New Zealand resident who holds degrees in botany and sociology. Winnitex, which was founded in Hong Kong in 1964, is a leading manufacturer of dyed woven fabrics, employing 3,000 workers worldwide.
