ShipBob recently opened a new India-based technology facility, according to a press release.
“Some of the world's finest technology and entrepreneurial talent is based out of India, and we are very excited to launch our first technology hub outside the United States to tap into this talent pool,” CTO at ShipBob, Harshal Wanjari, said in the release. “The initiatives executed out of our India hub will service our global base of DTC brands and fulfillment partners, enabling their scale both in the U.S. and internationally. We are also thrilled to welcome Pramod to ShipBob’s leadership team. Pramod’s experience will be instrumental in further expanding ShipBob’s technology capabilities to meet the needs of the supply chain landscape and help us provide merchants around the world with fast and affordable supply chain, fulfillment and logistics products.”
Through this launch, ShipBob hopes to make the supply chain available to small- and mid-sized e-commerce brands to promote their physical and digital presences, according to the press release. The new establishment is also set to strengthen merchant- and fulfillment partner-facing products, as well as cloud native platforms related to global inventory management and optimization, fulfillment, partner and marketplace integrations and transportation and logistics.
The global supply chain contributor also brought in BigBasket and Flipkart Veteran, Pramod Jajoo, to lead the new venture as SVP, technology and country head in hopes of expanding all related technological advancements developed in India.
“I am excited about joining a group of people who are extremely passionate about the power of technology to bring world-class fulfillment experience for our global e-commerce customers. I am also excited to lead ShipBob’s India hub that will be talent-centric, helping build the most innovative products for streamlining the supply chain for our customers,” Jajoo said.
The executive, who recently concluded his most recent position as a mentor and advisor to select startups and corporations for Nasscom's DeepTechClub startups, joins ShipBob with more than 25 years of technology leadership roles, garnered at Flipkart, BigBasket and Sun Microsystems, among several others.
According to the press release, over the course of the next few years, ShipBob plans to recruit more than 150 technology experts in the country to cover operations in the areas of engineering, product management, platforms, data sciences and analytics.
“ShipBob will continue to bring its remote-first philosophy to the market in India as the company believes that flexibility in where you work enables their people to perform their best both at work and at home,” the press release states.
