Helbiz has confirmed plans to expand its e-scooter offerings in the Asia Pacific region through a strategic partnership with Australian short-term rental accommodations operator, alloggio, according to a press release.
“I’m thrilled to launch Helbiz’s newest region in my home country, providing Australians with access to a gas-free, affordable transportation alternative,” Helbiz regional managing director, APAC, Mitchell Price, said in a press release. “We’re kicking it off with this great trial collaboration with alloggio that equips visitors with everything they need to fully immerse themselves in clean energy transportation in popular tourism destinations.”
According to the press release, the e-scooters, available for rental through the Helbiz app, are fully powered by clean, sustainable energy intended to facilitate motor vehicle trips for local single occupants.
The first of its kind to make it on the Nasdaq listing, Helbiz brought in business expert Price to lead all related local operations as regional managing director. The former staff to an Australian Member of Parliament and senior executive for Lime and Superpedestrian in the APAC will be tasked with leading the general growth of the program and uncovering transport solutions for commuters seeking public transport accessibility.
With a minimum of 100 e-scooters scheduled to be deployed in June, the micro-mobility company hopes to begin its distribution strategy in Queensland, and further expand to tourism locations across the eastern coast of the continent. The micro-mobility company’s first destination hubs set to receive the products are Noosa, Brisbane and Magnetic Island in Queensland.
“As Australia re-opens to the world and we start to see domestic and international travel continue to increase, alloggio is excited to work with Helbiz to provide an Australian first for our guests who stay at our alloggio managed properties,” CEO and founder of alloggio, Will Creedon, said in a press release.
