Williams has extended its collaboration with Discovery’s Keathley Canyon Connector (KCC) pipeline to supply LLOG Exploration Offshore, L.L.C’s new Salamanca development located in the Keathley Canyon area of the Gulf of Mexico, with deepwater natural gas infrastructure services, a press release reported.
“Williams provides critical infrastructure to gather and transport the Gulf of Mexico’s low carbon intensity natural gas for U.S. consumption,” Williams President and CEO Alan Armstrong said in a release. “Our scale and connectivity in the Gulf of Mexico provides a safe, seamless and efficient path to market, allowing our customers to maximize the value of these important deepwater resources.”
The new location will be responsible for overseeing Leon and Castile field production located 200 miles away from the coast of Louisiana. Its production is set to kick off during the second quarter of 2025.
It will serve as the seventh tieback to Williams’ deep water offshore assets over the past two years, the third deepwater production connected to the KCC pipeline, which began its operations in 2015 as a Central Gulf of Mexico-based primary natural gas corridor, and the fifth tie to the Discovery system in the last two years, according to the press release.
The 30-mile tieback to KCC will likely be led by investment vehicle, LLOG, managed by ArcLight Capital Partners, as well as other associated co-owners.
KCC forms part of the Williams-operated discovery system, a joint venture between Williams by 60% and DCP Midstream, LP by 40%. The establishment specializes in transporting rich natural gas offshore to onshore gas processing and natural gas liquids fractionation at Discovery’s Louisiana-based plant.
Williams’ total gathering, transmission, processing and fractionation assets based in the Gulf of Mexico spans a 3,500-mile pipeline, a capacity of 1.8 billion cubic feet of cryogenic processing capacity and 60,000 barrels fractionation capacity per day. The company owns two floating production platforms and various fixed leg utility platforms, among other related facilities, the press release reported.
