Western Union, based in Denver, Colorado, has partnered with SuperGIROS to make its international money transaction services available in all of its retail locations across Colombia, according to a press release.

"In Colombia, remittances are critically important in helping ensure health and safety for those who receive them, especially in remote communities across the country,” Western Union Regional director, Colombia, Claudia Reyes, said in a release. “In Colombia and across Latin America we continue to expand our network, offering consumers more convenience, introducing new services and allowing them to send money to their families and loved ones across the world. We look forward to working with SuperGIROS to help bridge the gap to full financial inclusion for all Colombians.”

The terms of the collaboration will grant Colombian customers access to send and receive money to people across the world in 9,800 additional locations, covering 23 provinces.

The launch brings the total number of Western Union locations in the country to 17,000. In correlation with the launch, SuperGIROS, forming part of the Acciones & Valores network, has extended its hours of operations to attract more customers amid the inauguration.

“Together, both companies now possess a country-wide footprint that reaches the most remote areas of the country, providing access to financial services that were lacking in the past,” a press release states.

President of the store, Rafael Aparicio, reveals that the expansion is a manifestation of the company’s growth strategy in an effort to include even the population that doesn’t have access to financial services.

"As we launch this service, our key priority is to think and evolve our relationship with the client, meeting and exceeding their expectations in terms of receiving and sending remittances,” he said.
