Helix Energy Solutions Group, Inc. has extended its field decommissioning contract with Trident Energy do Brasil Ltda. by an additional 12 months.

“We are pleased that Trident Energy has extended this major field decommissioning contract,” Scotty Sparks, Helix’s executive vice president and COO said. “This is another indication of an improving market for our global well intervention services and aligns well with our recent charter extensions of the Siem Helix 1 and Siem Helix 2.”

The project, based in the Pampo and Enchova Clusters of the Campos Basin in offshore Brazil, is scheduled to begin later this year, set for a duration of two years. The option to further extend the collaboration will remain on the table throughout the course of the development, a recent press release reveals.

Helix will continue contributing intervention vessels to the project, such as Siem Helix 1, Siem Helix 2 and a 10k Intervention Riser System. The Siem Helix 1 charter will now be used until the first quarter of 2025, while the Siem Helix 2 will last until the first quarter of 2027.

In collaboration with its Helix’s Subsea Services Alliance partner Schlumberger, the Houston-based company specializes in these interventions, as well as project management, engineering services and fully integrated plug and abandonment well services.

The company’s operations stand close by from Trident Energy’s four platforms scattered across the Campos basin. Trident’s systems form part of a global organization supported by Warburg Pincus, who operates and redevelops midlife oil and gas assets.
