Ropes & Gray recently selected Vincent Ip to be the managing partner for its Hong Kong office. The executive is scheduled to begin his tenure April 1.

"Vince has helped us grow our business in Asia through his strong leadership of the asset management practice, and we are excited for him to take on this new role as leader of the Hong Kong office,” chair of the company, Julie Jones, said.

Ip will soon be tasked with helping the company advise clients corresponding to the asset management, private equity and life sciences industries. The asset management partner will replace and take over the duties of former contributor, Dan Anderson, who formed part of the company for five years, and will continue overseeing the firm’s special practice in Asia, a recent press release stated.

"A strong Asia presence is critical to Ropes & Gray's global clients, and Hong Kong is one of the leading global centers for finance and investment," Jones said.

A U.S.-based lawyer with more than a decade of experience under his belt, Ip offers a range of funding solutions to his clients, which include structuring management teams and making sure businesses are complying with require laws and safety measures.

Ropes & Grays is considered one of the leading law firms on the Asian market after leading some of the largest PE deals ever recorded in Japan. Known for advising top asset managers and wealth funds around the globe, while representing Asia-focused private investment funds on a local and global scale, the agency is consistently ranked in Mergermarket's league table, showcased for potential PE buyouts in the region. It is also recognized by Legal 500 Asia-Pacific as a “Next Generation Partner in Investment Funds.”

Ropes & Gray is also involved with a global private equity funds management platform in Korea and collaborations with eight out of 10 of China’s largest life science companies, among various others.

"Hong Kong is a key financial hub for Asia and the world. The past two years have been challenging because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our firm is committed to the future of business in Asia, making strategic and smart investments to grow our teams and market presence," Ip said. "I am excited to lead Ropes & Gray's strong Hong Kong team."
