Olay is partnering with Acuta and Walmart Canada to reinforce its 10-year commitment to #FaceTheSTEMGap, donating $50,000 to Acuta’s National Girls Program.
Jennifer Flanagan, Acuta CEO, said her company is grateful to partner with Olay to work on closing the gender gap in science, technology, engineering, and math careers, according to a Feb. 11 press release.
“For over two decades Acuta has been working to remove barriers to girls and women so that they can pursue education and careers in STEM,” Flanagan said in the release. “It is essential that women (are) at the table in these fields in equal numbers to ensure the products, services and solutions they produce are representative of our population.”
Acuta plans to allocate $50,000 from its National Girls Program to raise awareness about women in STEM industries, according to the release.
Olay also plans to release a limited-edition STEM jar available exclusively at Walmart Canada, the release stated. Each jar sold will provide $15 in support to the National Girls Program, which engages more than 10,000 girls across Canada.
Women comprise just 23% of science and technology positions held by workers between the ages of 25 and 64, according to a 2019 Statistics Canada report.
