Preformed Line Products acquires Maxxweld Conectores Elétricos Ltda to enhance 'operational reach' in South America

Cleveland-based Preformed Line Products Company announced Jan. 12 it has acquired Maxxweld Conectores Elétricos Ltda.

According to a press release published on the PR Newswire website, Curitiba, Brazil-based Maxxweld was founded in 1991 and specializes in designing and manufacturing substation connector systems and accessory hardware for high-voltage AC systems.

With the acquisition, PLP will be able to expand its operational and technical capabilities in South America while supporting its overall global substation strategy, the release stated.

"The acquisition of Maxxweld further enhances the operational reach of our global substation business and brings with it a great team of talented people that will be critical for expanding our substation business in South America," PLP's CEO and President Rob Ruhlman said in the release. "The addition of Maxxweld to our global substation group will significantly expand our ability to service our utility customers throughout the region and globally."

Preformed Line Products has operations in more than 20 countries, according to the release.

The company designs and manufactures products and systems for construction and maintenance of overhead and underground networks for the energy, telecommunication, data communication and other industries. It also provides solar hardware systems and mounting hardware for a variety of solar power applications.
