A partnership between the world’s largest digital comics platform and a global multi-platform entertainment company will bring a new lineup of original webcomics and web novels.
Webtoon and Wattpad have announced a new slate of original webcomics and web novels, put together in a collaboration with Hybe artists featuring BTS, TXT and Enhyphen, according to a press release.
“We’re thrilled to work with Hybe to bring these incredible stories to fans all over the world in formats they know and love on WEBTOON and Wattpad," JunKoo Kim, founder and global CEO of Webtoon Entertainment, said. “Webcomics and web novels are some of the most exciting categories in global entertainment with a growing Creator Economy of superstar Creators, massive fandoms around the world and diverse IP fueling a new era of adaptations in TV and film.”
The lineup of six original webcomics and web novels is expected to be released worldwide on Jan. 14 with the company employing a super casting strategy to maintain the IP value of its entertainment brands' platforms and projects.
The first webcomics to debut, a collaboration with BTS, is 7Fates: CHAKHO, which follows seven young men who faced trials growing up together and must unite to unlock their destiny.
Two more original webcomics will be available on the Webtoon global platform with the other three web novel versions offered on Wattpad.
