International Monetary Fund chief Kristalina Georgieva faces allegations that she manipulated the Doing Business Report of 2018 while in a previous role at the World Bank.
“I disagree fundamentally with the findings and interpretations of the Investigation of Data Irregularities as it relates to my role in the World Bank’s Doing Business report of 2018,” Georgieva stated in a press release. “I have already had an initial briefing with the IMF’s Executive Board on this matter.”
The investigation presented that then-World Bank CEO Georgieva pressured her subordinates to favor China.
The IMF executive board met this week to be briefed by the Ethics Committee on its investigation into Georgieva's conduct relating to the Doing Business Report of 2018.
They had initial conversations about the Ethics Committee’s conversations so far and had an initial conversation about the report and Georgieva's response to it.
The IMF plans to have a quick and thorough investigation into the actions of its managing director's actions and plans to meet again soon to discuss further actions, according to IMF.
