Western Union and Cebuana Lhuillier, a company from the Phillippines, are partnering to launch a digital money transfer capability with an embedded micro-savings account through Cebuana Lhuillier's mobile app.

The collaboration will give users of the app, eCebuana, the option of having money digitally transferred into their personal accounts instead of visiting a retail store that supports Western Union transfers, according to a Western Union press release

“Following the successful launch of Western Union services at our retail locations, we are now excited to roll out a digital solution for convenient money transfers in the Philippines,” Jean Henri Lhuillier, President, and CEO of Cebuana Lhuillier, said in the release. “Our shared ambition is clear: to make it easier for customers to move money with reliability and ease, and for that we are continually innovating, increasing the ways customers can move funds for cross-border money transfers, and ensuring that we are one step ahead to meet their changing needs. This is still in line with our commitment of bringing financial inclusion and financial mobility to every Filipino.”

Funds transferable to a person's account through the eCebuana app will be available for access 24/7, while also enabling Western Union services to be sent or received from any one of the 2,500 Cebuana Lhuillier locations in the Phillippines, the release said.

Western Union continues to be a global leader in cross-currency money movement and payments that operates in more than 200 countries and deals in more than 130 different currencies, the release said.

Cebuana Lhuillier is the largest and longest-tenured micro-financial provider in the Phillippines, the release said.
