Technology-powered real estate firm The Real Brokerage Inc.'s recently announced expansion into Canada is a natural next step into that nation's burgeoning market, Co-founder and CEO Tamir Poleg said in a recent news release.
The Real, which operates in 31 U.S. states and Washington D.C., will be called "Real Broker AB" at its Alberta operations in Toronto, according to the company's Monday, Aug. 16 news release. The Canadian expansion marks The Real's first international operations.
"This expansion into Canada is a major milestone for us," Poleg said. "The real estate market in Canada is growing, with significant areas of opportunity. We believe Real can play a key role in the Canadian market and we look forward to building strong relationships with agents and clients in the country and increasing our international footprint."
The news release also announced the appointment of Dan Stante as provincial broker for Alberta and The Real's first agent in Canada, and Tyrel Laqua's appointment to branch manager of The Real in Canada.
"I believe that with Real's technology, business model and brand, we will be able to quickly grow a great team here," Laqua said in the news release, "I can now offer my agents things that as a small company we would never have had access to. Real will provide agents the ability to build their own brand, hold stock in the company and create a future in today's real estate market."
Working at The Real also will allow Laqua to do more for his client, he said in a Twitter post on Tuesday, Aug. 17.
In addition to Washington D.C., the Real operates officers in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.
The Real also announced the opening of its Indianapolis office this week. The Real began trading on the NASDAQ earlier this summer.
"Seven years ago, we saw that real estate agents were being underserved in helping people find their dream homes," Poleg said in a Facebook post last month, shortly after NASDAQ trading began. "We started Real to make their lives better."
