TransPerfect, global provider of language and technology solutions for businesses, recently announced it will merge operations with Semantix, the largest provider of translation and interpretation services in the Nordic region.
Semantix has previously acquired several firms in the language industry in the Nordics, making the company the region's largest language solutions service by revenue, TransPerfect said in a release. The merger will be made possible by TransPerfect's acquisition of Semantix International Group AB, parent company of Semantix, the company said.
"We have competed against Semantix in the Nordics for more than 15 years and have admired their leadership position and strong reputation," Phil Shawe, president and CEO of TransPerfect, said in the release. "It is exciting to have them as part of our rapidly growing global team and to work together to achieve great things for our customers. We welcome everyone at Semantix to the TransPerfect family, which will be a homecoming for some staff members who have worked with TransPerfect in the past."
Semantix CEO Patrik Attemark also commented on the merger.
"Merging with TransPerfect is a testament to the successful execution of the transformation of Semantix into a leading language technology company for multilingual services," Attemark said. "While Semantix is the market leader in the Nordics, we feel that access to TransPerfect's global presence, expansive resources and market-leading technology offerings will allow us to better service our clients on a global scale.”
TransPerfect, with offices in over 100 cities on six continents, is headquartered in New York City. The merger will unite over 7,500 language professionals across the world, the company said in the release. No financial terms for the agreement have been disclosed.
Semantix is based in Stockholm, with operations in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Spain and Croatia. It has provided language translation and interpretation services for more than 50 years.
After the merger, Semantix will be a division of TransPerfect and continue with its current management team, TransPerfect said.
